The opportunities in the retail sector are massive. Labour market intelligence from Skillsmart Retail (2008) identifies the retail sector is the UK’s largest private sector employer with just under three million employees and a £321bn turnover. Fashion has exciting retailers and often leads the way with building customer relationships, merchandising and promotions. Pop up units from empty shops are now an established retailing concept – particularly for new brands who struggle to enter the high street.
